Justin Goedde of JG Stoneware is a ceramic artist producing wheel thrown pottery for the modern home. His collection is centered around serving bowls and bud vases in varying sizes, which are unique and utilitarian. He pairs a rich and textural brown stoneware surface with white, blue and turquois glazes which reference the natural elements of clay, water and minerals, which make up the ceramic process. Justin is inspired by the rich history of pottery making around the world, especially Scandinavian and Japanese ceramics, and he attempts to infuse the warmth and familiarity of that tradition into each pot that he creates.
Justin hand forms each piece on the wheel in his studio in Allston, MA. The work is then trimmed, dried and glazed before it is placed into a gas kiln and reduction fired to 2300 degrees. This "high fire" process can yield varied and unexpected colors and surfaces, contributing to the unique and handmade quality of the work. The end product is a durable stoneware which is both microwave and dishwasher safe. Each bowl features a olive and brown glaze on the outside and a speckled white interior. Available in two sizes. Each bowl will be unique.
