Textiles and Linens
Lulasclan is an ode to Arica, it encompasses the magic and beauty of Africa through unique and contemporary textiles and pieces that all come together to feel like a piece of home. Founded in 2016, what started as a small scatter cushion business, has evolved into a Textile & Product Design Studio, home to the South African Textile artist and designer Bonolo Chepape, who's story starts with a love for patterns, art and design, cultivated and nurtured in a small dusty mining town of Rustenburg, North West, South Africa. It is built on a family that works together to realize each others dreams, in order to pave a way for the future lineage and to create a place which everyone can call home.
Anna Chepape (Mother) & Tshupi Letsie (Aunt) are the matriarchs of the Chepape clan who have helped and contributed in the building and support of the brand. The self-taught seamstresses with a natural appetite for entrepreneurship, jumped on board when the idea of Lulaslacan was born. Rolling up their sleeves to take charge of the vision and consistently uttering the words 'we are doing this for all of you" a statement that Bonolo kew very well and the underlying message and impact of it, that it's about everyone, and bringing everyone along, it's about making a way, shifting the course, breaking the chains and learning new ways of doing things.
The Homeware and Textile Design studio, designs and manufactures textile design and products in Cape Town and Rustenburg, infusing cross-cultural elements, to create a distinctive African contemporary style that celebrates culture and heritage. The brand believes in the beauty that exists in Africa and its cultures, driven to finding ways to preserve it by documenting and sharing it's beauty.
