Bill Doran is a graphic designer and ceramic artist based in the Boston area. He began his ceramics practice with slip casting, later exploring wheel throwing and hand-building, before recently returning to his roots in slip casting. His current process often starts with 3D modeling, followed by plastic prototyping, plaster mold-making, and slip casting ceramic forms. Bill’s work ranges from clean, modern silhouettes to textured, rugged surfaces, with a consistent focus on functional vessels. He also serves as a teaching assistant for the Molds and Multiples course at the Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard.
These gorgeous slip cast cone vases feature velvet underglazes with a luminous gradient quality, airbrushed on with a clear glaze on top.
