Come meet food stylist, author and veteran America’s Test Kitchen cast member Elle Simone Scott. Elle released her second cookbook Food Gifts: 150+ Irresistible Recipes for Crafting Personalized Presents in spring 2024. Food Gifts is rooted in Elle’s firm belief that food fosters connection and there is no more meaningful way to connect with others than to give a personalized food gift that you’ve prepared and packaged yourself. With Mother's Day, graduation season, and the social spring and summer months upon us, this is the perfect moment to pick up new ideas for gifting meaningfully (and deliciously)! Join for an evening with Elle as she discusses the making of Food Gifts, provides tips and tricks for gifting food with intention, and leads a light demonstration of a few easy giftable recipes from her new book.

Ikenobo Ikebana Workshop

Have you ever wanted to learn the art of Japanese floral arranging? Here's your opportunity to learn with Mimi Santini-Ritt, a Level 15 Professor of Ikebana. The evening will start with a short introduction to Ikenobo Ikebana by Mimi followed by instructions and a demonstration for creating a moribana arrangement. The attendees will then create their own arrangements.

Mimi Santini-Ritt is a Level 15 Professor of Ikebana who has studied Ikenobo extensively in both the U.S. and in Japan for almost 25 years. She has completed several years of training at the Ikenobo Central Training Institute in Kyoto and continues taking advanced classes there. Mimi teaches, exhibits and demonstrates the art of Japanese flower arranging throughout the greater Boston area. She is Past President of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Boston. When not practicing Ikenobo, Mimi can often be found at the Museum of Fine Arts, where she does volunteer work in Egyptian Storage and Conservation.

Beatrice Sannino (Beatrice Sannino Collective) will be styling our table and discussing her choices and method. She'll lend her expertise in traditional Italian craftsmanship and contemporary elegance during this evening workshop.

During the  event, Sella Abalian (Studio Four Six) will lead the floral napkin ring assemblage portion of the workshop.  Participants will be provided with the following materials to make 4 fresh floral napkin rings (additional kits of spooled ribbon and rings will be available for purchase). **Napkins not included.

Materials for 4 napkin rings: (per attendee)

-fresh flowers (for 4 napkin rings)

-1 floral tape

-1 spoon of ribbon (2 yards)

-4 wooden napkin rings

-box to take floral rings home

Fresh flowers will include: thistle, seeded eucalyptus, pussy willows, rice flower or craespedia. *Florals dry beautifully and can be re-used.
